The Royal Thai Army Loks to Procure New MANPADS Shoulder-fired Anti-Aircraft Missiles

The Technical Services Division, Ordnance Department, Royal Thai Army has published a document inviting proposals for technical data for a shoulder-fired low-level anti-aircraft guided weapon (MANPADS: Man-Portable Air-Defence System).

In order to proceed with the preparation of procurement features for use in the 7th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion, 1st Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment, Royal Thai Army Artillery Division, on September 25, 2023, published on the official website of the Royal Thai Army on September 28, 2023, which was found in early October 2023.

Other requirements include It must be new, not more than one year from the date of delivery and can be used immediately. Must have an Operator Manual and maintenance manual in Thai and English, and transmission manual in English. A bullet slices through the halves of a missile, showing the working structure for military training and 1 missile for test firing.

From the details, it is indicated that the MANPADS system that the Royal Thai Army would like to submit information to consider procuring has the same design as the Russian Igla-S surface-to-air missile, which currently may have additional problems in procuring according to enforcement, laws embargoing arms trade from the United States and the European Union.
