Submarine Attack Coordinator Course (SMACC) in Australia

The Australian-led combined Exercise involves units from the Royal Australian Navy, Royal Australian Air Force, and the U.S. Navy.

The SMACC Exercise is led by U.S. Navy VP-16 Detachment Commander, Lieutenant Andrew Kittel (front left) & Royal Australian Air Force No. 92 Wing Detachment Commander, Squadron Leader Joshua Brown (front right).

The primary focus of SMACC is to enable the training and assessment of prospective Collins Class Submarine executive officers in a joint and combined force anti-submarine warfare environment.

This environment is created with the involvement of a live Australian Collins Class submarine, three surface combatants, three maritime combat helicopters, remote-piloted aircraft, and, support from #AusAirForce and U.S. Navy P-8A Poseidon Maritime Patrol Aircraft.
