DTI Thailand Delivered AAPC 8x8 Amphibious Armored Vehicles to the Royal Thai Marine Corps

8X8 wheeled armored vehicle 'Sea Tiger' under the joint research and development project, the prototype 8x8 Amphibious Armored Personnel Carrier (AAPC) between the National Defense Technology Institute (DTI) and the Naval Research and Development Office (NRDO), which has been certified by the Royal Thai Navy Armament Standards Board on 14 September 2021 that it was delivered to the Royal Thai Marine Corps (RTMC) on May 18, 2023 during the live ammunition tactics exercise at the Royal Thai Navy Training Ground No. 16, Ban Chanthaklem District, Khao Khitchakut, Chanthaburi Province.

The delivery of DTI AAPC 8x8 amphibious armored vehicles follows after Panus Assembly Co., Ltd. Thailand has delivered an amphibious armored vehicle its R600 8x8 to the Thai Marine Corps on May 9, 2023. Panus R600 8x8 wheeled armored vehicle is the winner of the project to purchase armored wheeled vehicles (8x8) type transport, amount of 2 vehicles, amount 99,900,000 baht ($ 3,080,387), price per unit each 49,950,000 baht ($1,540,240).

The Royal Thai Navy has a project to supply 8X8 armored personnel carriers for the Thai Marine Corps, amounting to 7 vehicles, amounting to approximately 448 million baht ($13,272,699) It is understood that DTI's Marine Sea Tiger vehicle and Panus' R600 vehicle are the contestants in the project.

The DTI AAPC 8x8 wheeled armored vehicle produced by Cho Thavee Public Company Limited, Thailand, priced at approximately 150 million baht ($ 5 million) each, is equipped with a Remote Weapons Station (RWS) turret type ADDER M30, size 30mm, from ST Kinetics, Singapore,  while the Panus R600 8x8 wheeled armored vehicle has not yet been tested, it can be equipped with weapons that can be installed from 12.7mm and 7.62mm machine guns, such as the Turkish ASELSAN SARP remote turret, to the optional 30mm machine gun with ASELSAN NEFER remote turret, Turkey.

However, the AAPC 8x8 amphibious armored vehicle has a swimming speed of only 10.1km/h and can carry 14 personnel, while the R600 8x8 has a swimming speed of 13.7km/h. and can carry up to 20 troops.
