Decision on Thai Submarine will be Made at the End of June

China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC) displayed a model of its products at Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) 2023 exhibition at Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC) in Malaysia during 23-27 May 2023, including 2600 tons submarine also known as S26T submarine for Royal Thai Navy and Hangor-class submarine of Pakistan Navy.

Pakistan Navy has accepted a CHD 620 diesel-electric generator for its 8 Hangor-class submarines to replace embargoed German MTU 396. Royal Thai Navy will be made a decision on its S26T submarine program at the end of June 2023.

The Pakistan Navy has accepted CHD 620 electric-powered diesel engines for all 8 of its Hangor class submarines, the first four in China and the latter four in Pakistan, and these are being installed. China's diesel-electric submarines will use their CHD 620 instead of the German MTU 396.

The Royal Thai Navy's decision on the CHD 620 engines is expected to be made by the end of June 2023 and will be passed on to the new Royal Thai Government for further decision in line with a G-to-G government-to-government agreement that, if canceled the submarine project has pushed the project to build a frigate in Thailand instead.
