Aero Outlines First Delivery Dates Initial L-39NG Operators

Aero Vodochody has outlined when it expects to deliver the first serial production examples of its new-generation L-39NG advanced jet trainer to the Vietnam People’s Air Force (VPAF) and the Hungarian Air Force (HuAF).

The Czech Republic-based aircraft manufacturer confirmed that it plans to hand over the first L-39NGs to the VPAF in July 2023, adding that deliveries to the HuAF will begin in July 2024.

Vietnam ordered 12 trainer-configured L-39NGs on February 15, 2021, with Hungary purchasing 12 (comprising eight trainer aircraft and four light attack examples) on April 20, 2022.

Aero Vodochody also clarified that the first two examples destined for Vietnam are currently in production. Through what the company terms ‘pacification’, the VTAP examples will be delivered in an ‘Eastern setup’ with Russian-standard language and avionics.
