FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City – The 6th Marine Battalion (6MBn) has been activated as the 2nd Marine Amphibious Ready Unit (MARU) on February 3, 2023 after completion of a rigorous retraining and refurbishing program.
This transformation gives the 6MBn a new identity as an amphibious capable unit that is rapid, hard-hitting, and joint-ready unit to be emplaced in strategic areas to quickly respond to any threats or disasters. They come after the successful MARU transformation of 9MBn.
PMC Commandant, MGen. Charlton Sean M. Gaerlan PN(M), expressed his full confidence in the leadership of Lt. Col. Ronald F. Lapizar PN(M), Commanding Officer, 2nd MARU. He reminded him to endeavor to apply the working principle of TEAM MARINES in every every task and mission.
