Royal Thai Navy has Received Chinese FK-3 Mobile Air Defense Systems and Thairung 4x4 Equipped with Russian Igla-S

Visiting the event at the Aircraft Combat and Coastal Defense Command (ACDC: Air and Coastal Defense Command) in Sattahip District Chonburi Province of the 5th year cadet for the academic year 2012, the Royal Thai Naval Academy on September 19, 2022, which the Thai Navy has published a series of pictures at the end of September 2022 in the past revealed that Aircraft Combat Command and Coast Guard PSU has introduced a medium-range of mobile surface-to-air missile system FK-3 China and a two-shot Igla-S short-range mobile anti-aircraft missile in a Russian Dzhigit launch pad on a Thairung TR Transformer 4x4 armored truck family has been deployed.

The FK-3 self-propelled surface-to-air missile defense system is procured according to the mobile medium-range surface-to-air missile procurement project, Phase 1, amounting to 1,970 million baht ($63,982,850) for the battalion combat aircraft Department of Air Combat PSU (Probably at least one system).

The FK-3 is a product of China National Precision Machinery Import and Export Corporation (CPMIEC), a state-owned enterprise of the People's Republic of China's air defense system armament import and export enterprise which will be exhibited at the Defense & Security 2022 International Defense Equipment Exhibition.


The FK-3 is an export version of the HQ-22 surface-to-air missile stationed in the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA: People's Liberation Army), with a range of 5 to 100 km. The longest firing range of the Royal Thai Armed Forces at present

Project to supply 5 sets of mobile short-range anti-aircraft missiles with a limit of 245,890,000 baht ($7,682,982.06) for the Aircraft Combat Command and Coast Guard Royal Thai Police that Datagate Thai Company is the winner.

It has been seen integrating a Dzhigit launcher with a two-shot Russian Igla-S surface-to-air missile mounted on the rear carrier. Thairung Transformer 4x4 truck family with reinforced armor and equipped with Snorkel tubes for water movement which is installed in Thailand.

The Thairung 4x4 truck is also used as a base vehicle for other short-range surface-to-air missile launchers, such as the Swedish Saab RBS 70 and the Chinese QW-2 stationed in the Army's Security Force Command RTAF.
