The third Airbus C295W transport aircraft, number 23221, of the Royal Thai Army, which has signed a procurement contract since 2021, was discovered that it was flying from the aircraft factory of Airbus Defense Europe Company in Spain on October 21, 2023.
The transport aircraft, C295W, No. 23221, will enter service together with C295W, No. 16150, and No. 16160, which were previously in service at the 21st Aviation Battalion, Department of Aviation, Army Aviation Center bringing the latest number of machines to 3.
It is understood that the Royal Thai Army has a need for a total of 4 medium-sized transport aircraft, causing additional orders to be procured for 1 machine if given enough budget. However, in the fiscal year 2024, the Thai Ministry of Defense has a policy for the Thai Armed Forces to reduce the purchase of new weapons.
