The German Government Office of Export Control (Bundesamt für Wirtschaft und Ausfuhrkontrolle – BAFA) confirmed the embargo on the export of 28 armored personnel carriers medium on wheels (VBTP-MSR) 6X6 Guarani to the Philippines. The allegation is that the vehicles have military components of German origin and, therefore, subject to export control.
VBTP-MSR) 6X6 Guarani is produced by Iveco Defence Vehicles (IDV), in Sete Lagoas (Minas Gerais), and was sold to the Philippines by the Elbit Systems. IDV has already produced (and officially delivered) five vehicles, but these are still in the company's yard, where they await their destination. Currently, the Army's Manufacturing Directorate (DF) and IDV are working on the so-called "Guarani 2.0" Project, which among these are the replacement of components of German origin which runs the risk of suffering from the same embargo.
