Looks like the Philippine Air Force was lucky enough to have avoided another disaster last December 2022 involving its oldest aircraft, Fokker F27-200 Friendship with tail number 59-0259.
According to one of our community members from the aviation industry, the said Fokker F27 aircraft made an emergency stop during take-off from Bacolod-Silay Airport as its left engine caught fire.
This probably prompted the Philippine Air Force to retire the aircraft, which was already 63 years old during the incident.
With the PAF getting more C-295s, it might be a good decision for the PAF to also consider the retirement of its 2 other remaining F27 aircraft.
