RTAF Reveals the F-16AM/BM with LIZARD 3 Guided Bombs and AMRAAM

Opening ceremony of the annual tactical air operations competition for the year 2021, the Royal Thai Air Force at the Chai Badan Air Weapons Training Field. Lopburi Province, on December 2, 2021 has opened the opportunity for the general public who are interested in viewing the demonstration of the air force show.

Although the weather during the opening ceremony and demonstration was not very good, even after 10:00 o'clock, there were still fog and clouds lowering the visibility, including the live video broadcast from the Chai Badan training ground, there are still occasional interruptions.


The most prominent feature in this year's opening ceremony is the Lockheed Martin F-16AM/BM EMLU fighter aircraft, Squadron 403, Wing 4 Takhli, showing the installation of the Raytheon medium-range air-to-air missile AIM-120C AMRAAM (Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile) for the first time. Previously released images of the Diehl IRIS-T short-range air-to-air missile with the Lockheed Martin Sniper ATP (Advanced Targeting Pod) pod.

The key weapon demonstration was an Elbit Lizard 3 laser-guided bomb attack from an F-16AM/BM fighter equipped with a Sniper ATP target pod, an AIM-120C air-to-air missile and an IRIS- T marks the first time that the Royal Thai Air Force has revealed this capability.

The Lizard 3 laser guided bomb is part of the upgrade of the F-5TH Super Tigris fighter jet complies with the Common Fleet to reduce weapon and equipment policy, they can also be used together.
