The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN)'s Formidable-class frigate RSS Intrepid participated in a Multinational Group Sail (MNGS) with four other warships from India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines on 16-18 Jun 2022 in the Pacific Ocean. The MNGS also involved India's Shivalik-class frigate INS Satpura, Indonesia's Martadinata-class frigate KRI I Gusti Ngurah Rai, Malaysia's Kasturi-class corvette KD Lekir and Philippines' Jose Rizal-class frigate BRP Antonio Luna. The ships conducted a series of drills while transiting from Guam to Hawaii, which included manoeuvring and communication exercises.

RSS Intrepid is sailing to Hawaii for the Rim of the Pacific Exercise (Ex RIMPAC). Hosted by the U.S. Navy, the biennial Ex RIMPAC will be conducted in the waters off Hawaii from 30 Jun to 5 Aug 2022 (local time). This is the eighth time that the RSN will be participating in the world’s largest international maritime exercise. The multilateral Ex RIMPAC and the MNGS are important avenues for the RSN to hone its competencies and strengthen cooperation and professional ties with other navies.
