Covid-19 Coronavirus Pandemic In The U.S. -- News Updates November 24, 2020

More than 257,600 Americans have now died from COVID-19 and there have been 12.4 million infections across the country
The current rolling seven-day average for deaths is currently 1,500, which is the highest since mid-May during the initial peak of the virus. If that trajectory continues, the US would reach 300,000 deaths in less than a month 


 * An average of close to one million people have passed through airports per day since the CDC urged Americans not to travel or spend the holiday with people outside their household 
 * By next Sunday, it is estimated that 6.3 million would have flown in the week leading up to Thanksgiving, according to forecasts from the AAA and based on current figures 
 * The disregard for the CDC's guidance comes despite the current rolling seven-day average for deaths reaching 1,500 - the highest since mid-May during the initial peak of the virus 
 * In total, fewer than 50 million Americans are expected to travel via plane, car or public transport this Thanksgiving, according to AAA forecasts 
 * Dr Anthony Fauci has again urged American to reconsider their Thanksgiving travel plans and gatherings 
 * New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has vowed to crack down on people who violate the mandatory travel quarantine orders when arriving in New York and has threatened $1,000 fines per day 

More than 6.3 million Americans are expected to fly this week as they ignore CDC guidance to avoid Thanksgiving travel despite COVID-19 deaths and cases surging across the country.

Nearly 4 million people have already passed through airports in the four days since the CDC urged Americans not to travel or spend the holiday with people outside their household last week. 

By next Sunday, it is estimated that 6.3 million would have flown in the days before and after Thanksgiving, according to forecasts from the AAA and based on current figures.
