The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) has created a dedicated Twitter handle for its new Maritime Operation Helicopter (Helikopter Operasi Maritim – HOM).
Three Leonardo AW139 HOM will be procured from Galaxy Aerospace which has already supplied similar helicopters to the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (commonly known as the BOMBA) with a pair of AW189 and the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP) with AW139.
The Navy’s AW139 will be based at Kota Kinabalu Naval Base along with a detachment of AgustaWestland Super Lynx Mk 300 naval helicopter and Boeing/In-Situ ScanEagle Tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (TUAV).
