U.S. Congress Votes To Override President Trump's Veto Of The Defense Bill

The House of Representatives overruled President Donald Trump's veto for the first time after he rejected a bipartisan defense bill over renaming bases named for Confederates and because lawmakers wouldn't change section 230 of the Communications Decency Act 


 * The House of Representatives voted Monday night to override President Donald Trump's veto of the National Defense Authorization Act
 * Trump vetoed the large defense package last week because he wanted lawmakers to change section 230 of the Communications Decency Act
 * The president wants 'big tech' to have weaker legal protections, as conservatives have alleged bias against Trump and other Republicans 
 * Trump also objected to the bill because it will rename 10 military bases named after Confederate figures
 * The House vote marks the first time Trump's veto has been overruled, with the Senate expected to follow suit Tuesday 

The House of Representatives voted to override President Donald Trump's veto of the National Defense Authorization Act Monday night. 

In a vote of 322 to 87, with two-thirds of the House needed, the chamber slapped down Trump's veto pen for the first time of his presidency. 

The Senate is expected to vote Tuesday and also override the president - turning the massive defense bill into law.
