Russia Proposes Technical Service Centres In India

A senior official from Rostec, Russia’s state-owned defence and industrial group, has outlined plans to establish a series of ‘technical service centres’ in India to boost support for Russian military hardware operated by the Indian military.

In comments to the Press Trust of India (PTI) on 7 December, Viktor Kladov, Rostec’s director for international co-operation and regional policy, said Russian industry would bid to maintain, upgrade, and overhaul the military equipment through the proposed facilities, which Russia would run in collaboration with Indian industry.

“India has bought a lot of Soviet- and Russian-made defence equipment and a bulk of this equipment requires modernisation, upgrades, and repair,” he said to PTI.
