U.S. Approves The Immediate Distribution Of The Pfizer-19 Vaccine

 


 * The FDA on Friday night gave emergency approval to Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine, making it the first shot available in the US 
 * An estimated 2.9 million doses are supposed to be shipped within 24 hours and health care workers and nursing home residents will be first in line 
 * Operation Warp Speed expects the US will have 'shots in arms' within 96 hours of approval, while HHS said Americans will get the jab Monday or Tuesday 
 * The White House threatened FDA commissioner Dr Stephen Hahn on Friday, telling him to approve the vaccine or resign, sources told the Washington Post 
 * Trump tweeted on Friday that the FDA was a 'slow turtle' taking too long to approve the vaccine 
 * It could take several days, he said, before approval is actually given much less rolled out across the country 
 * CVS says it won't start giving out the vaccine to nursing home patients until Dec 21 at least 
 * Meanwhile on Wednesday, the US had its deadliest day yet with 3,144 deaths 
 * Twenty-three scientists met on Thursday to discuss if the vaccine was safe and effective 
 * Both the UK and Canada approved have already approved vaccine 

Donald Trump hailed the FDA's approval of the coronavirus vaccine as a 'medical miracle' on Friday evening - and said the drug will 'save millions of lives and end the pandemic once and for all'. 

Millions of doses of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine are being shipped out across the US, with the first vaccinations due to take place within 24 hours, according to the president. 

'This is one of the greatest scientific achievements in history,' Trump said in a video statement from the White House, adding it was a 'medical miracle.' 'I'm thrilled to report the FDA has approved the Phizer vaccine.'
