"Because water is defined as 'critical infrastructure' in Israel, the incident was reported to the Israel National Cyber Directorate and other intelligence agencies in Israel."
Israel and Iran. Cyber warfare. Tit-for-tat.
As reported by the New York Times.
"Exchange of Cyberattacks"
"Israel was behind a cyber-attack that disrupted a major port in Iran, done in response to an attempt by the Revolutionary Guards to infiltrate an Israeli water facility."
Iran attacks first, Israel retaliates. Tepid exchange of cyber-attack at this point but an indication of what can occur. And understandably so the Israeli worried. WATER is "critical infrastructure" in the Middle East, always has been, always will be. Deny water to the adversary and you are threatening in a major way.
Cyber-attack if successful no real difference than a conventional "kinetic" military attack if the target put out of action, not able to function, incapacitated.
