Daesh Operative Slashes Throat of Prison Guard in an Escape Bid

Abu Musa was arrested last year for his alleged role in a bomb blast in Burdwan, West Bengal. Musa is presently lodged at the Alipore Central Jail in Kolkata

New Delhi — A Daesh operative imprisoned in India's eastern city of Kolkata allegedly attempted an escape after slashing the throat of a security guard inspecting his cell with his fingernails. Abu Musa could not escape the prison, as he was overpowered by other security personnel, but he created a ruckus inside the jail by raising pro-Daesh sentiments, according to officials.

"Such terrorists are trained in beheading. He was desperate to kill the guard with his nail, but other jail officials rushed to the spot and overpowered him," West Bengal Prison Minister Ujjwal Biswas told reporters.
