Daily Express: Germany 'will NOT side with US' in war with North Korea in huge blow to Trump

GERMANY would not “automatically” back the US in a war against North Korea, Angela Merkel has sensationally admitted.

The German Chancellor has brushed aside Donald Trump’s threat of “fire and fury” in a shock rebuff of military action against North Korea.

Speaking with German newspaper Handelsblatt, Merkel was quizzed about the escalating crisis engulfing the US and North Korea.

When asked if she would support the US if war broke out, Merkel refused to take sides.

She said: “No, not automatically. I do not see any military solution to [the crisis with] North Korea. I think it is wrong.”

Merkel has been a staunch critic of Trump’s shoot-from-the-hip approach to the North Korea nuclear crisis.

WNU Editor: The wire services have not picked up the story that Germany would not automatically support the U.S. in a war against North Korea .... but news websites from Russia/Iran/the tabloids/etc. have. What a contrast to the outrage and pressure that President Trump was under when he did not make a public commitment that the U.S. would rush to the defense of NATO in the event of war.
