The White House is staying silent on Afghanistan despite the deaths of four US Marines in an ISIS suicide bomb attack, and while as many as 1,000 US citizens remain stranded in the country, with time running out on the Taliban's ceasefire and the airport now closed.
The four Marines were killed on two explosions on the airport on Thursday evening that intelligence officials had warned was coming.
ISIS-K, a new faction of the terror group, is believed to be behind the two attacks.
The first was a suicide bomber in a vest at the Baron Hotel, where Westerners were holed up waiting for flights, and the second was a car bomb at the Abbey Gate. Dozens of people were killed, according to those on the ground including a New York Times reporter who counted 40 dead bodies.
