The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) PASKAL naval commando unit will be equipped with Tactical small Unmanned Aerial System (sUAS) as well as underwater scooter to further boost its capabilities.

PASKAL has already has swimmer delivery vehicle (SDV) hence the underwater scooter will be a further boost to its operative delivery and Insertion.

On the other hand, other special forces unit in the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) such as the Army’s GGK and Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) PASKAU commando have, during separate period of time, been using various types of SUAS.

The GGK had previously seen using locally made UST Aludra SR-8 while the PASKAU commando is using DJI Mavic hand held drone for surveillance.

According to bits of information from eperolehan, online Government procurement portal, the Drone is equipped with thermal cameras.

Such move by PASKAL emulates the US Navy SEAL which uses Raven mini drone as intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) platform.

Live video footage from the drone enable on scene commander to effectively plan, observe and direct a swift and decisive special forces assault. Drone also enhance situational awareness of operation area.
