The latest images on national television show that the extremely modern submarine rescue ship of the Vietnam Navy is having sea trials, ready to be put into the services.

Realizing the preeminent aspects of submarines in naval warfare, Vietnam signed a contract with the Russian Federation in the late 2000s to import 6 Kilo 636M-class diesel-electric submarines to improve combat capabilities. This has helped our navy become the navy with the strongest submarine force in Southeast Asia and also one of the countries with the strongest submarine fleet in the world.

However, even though we have an extremely powerful submarine fleet, we lack typical rescue equipment. Meanwhile, the leading naval forces in the world have invested in specialized submarine rescue ships for the task of handling the unfortunate incidents encountered by submarines.

Facing the need for methodical and long-term investment for the Vietnamese submarine fleet, our army has embarked on the construction of a new large multi-purpose submarine search and rescue ship numbered 927 - Yet Kieu of the MSSARS 9316 class Designed by DAMEN Netherlands Company, constructed by Z-189 Factory of the General Department of Defense National Industry. The plant was very quick to complete the 4,000-ton displacement ship equipped with these types of leading submarine rescue technologies.

Before building the Yet Kieu, the Z-189 factory received a contract to build two other submarine lifeboats with a displacement of about 3,000 tons for the Australian Navy. This is the first step in creating great experience for the unit as a premise to quickly complete the product to serve the domestic army in the best way.

The 927 - Yet Kieu submarine rescue ship has a displacement of 3,950 tons, operates continuously for 30 days at sea and is resistant to waves up to level 9, wind level 12. The ship is designed with 2 additional propellers to help. the ability to turn and turn around easily and quickly.

The ship is designed with superstructure carbin reversing to the front and leaving room at the back, characteristic of the Salvage lifeboat. The cabin is widely designed to carry specialized machinery, detection equipment and diving equipment for the task of detecting and finding submarines in distress.

In front of the ship's carbin is a large helipad that allows the ship to handle the service helicopters under special circumstances. The sides of the ship have a cutout for easy access to cargo, people and equipment from the ships, in addition to a machine crane for quick speed boat deployment.

Currently, the 927 has begun to perform test runs and trials of rescue weapon systems in the field. The ship was launched from December 4, 2019, up to now it has been a full year and after the images of the test, it is likely that in a very short time the ship will be returned to the mating unit.
