Politico: Acting Navy secretary resigns over handling of virus-stricken aircraft carrier
It is unclear whether Defense Secretary Mark Esper will accept the resignation.
Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly resigned on Tuesday following an uproar over a profanity-laced address to the crew of the coronavirus-stricken aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt on Sunday, Defense Secretary Mark Esper announced.
Modly submitted his resignation letter to Esper on Tuesday after meeting with his boss one-on-one, a defense official with knowledge of the meeting said.

WNU Editor: The U.S. Secretary of Defense Esper has not indicated (at 18:30 EST) that he will accept his resignation. I personally think his resignation will be accepted. But President Trump did say something two days ago that made sense to me. Everyone deserves a second chance if he wants one. That includes both Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly and former Captain Brett Crozier.
