Daily NK: Kim Yo Jong makes first direct order to N. Korean military

Order is further evidence of Kim's growing authority in the regime

All-female units with the Korean People’s Army received their first ever orders from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s younger sister, Kim Yo Jong, a military source told Daily NK on Dec. 20. Kim Yo Jong is the deputy director of the Propaganda and Agitation Department of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK).

According to sources, this is a clear sign that Kim Yo Jong has taken over the role that Kim Jong Il’s younger sister, Kim Kyong Hui, once filled. It is also an indication that Kim, as befitting her “Mount Paektu lineage,” has assumed a more politically significant role in the regime.

WNU Editor: In my opinion she is already the second most powerful person in North Korea. She is currently serving as North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's personal assistant and senior adviser, and being appointed to this military position only cements her growing role. I would also not be surprised if in ten years she will be running the internal security apparatus of the country. Why is she important? She is being positioned to step forward in the event that if something happens to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in the next decade or two, she will be positioned to ensure the continuation of the Kim dynasty in North Korea.
