GAZ Group will Start Car Assembly in Vietnam

TASS.- GAZ Group will start car assembly in Vietnam, as told by the Russian half of the Intergovernmental Commission of the Russian Federation and Vietnam on Trade, Economic and Scientific and Technical Cooperation: Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov to TASS.

According to Akimov, the first automobile kits for assembly have already been shipped to Vietnam.

“The issue of industrial cooperation, including the assembly of automobiles from car kits here in Vietnam, has been discussed at a meeting of the intergovernmental commission. Most of the issues have been regulated with the Vietnamese side. More than 300 car kits are already on their way to Vietnam by sea, to be assembled here” – Akimov said.

According to the official representative of Akimov, there are plans to implement a protocol, concerning the support of automobile production in Vietnam. “380 car kits are planned to be delivered to Vietnam until the end of the year, 170 of which are currently on their way: Cityline minibuses on the base of Gazel” – he told TASS.

As written in Izvestiya newspaper previously, GAZ has plans to create a joint venture with Vietnamese Thanh Dat Group for the assembly of automobiles in the country.

As told by the Director of GAZ Group on the Development of International Business: Leonid Dolgov during an interview with TASS, the company has identified three priority macro-regions for exports: Africa and the Middle East, Latin America and Eurasia. According to Dolgov, Vietnam is amongst the priority markets.
