Keel laying ceremony held for future BRP Antonio Luna

The keel laying ceremony for Philippine Navy’s future BRP Antonio Luna (FF-151) was held at Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) shipyard in South Korea today, May 23.

The said ceremony signals is the formal recognition of the start of a ship’s construction.

The future BRP Antonio Luna is the second of two ordered frigates from HHI.

Meanwhile, the first frigate ordered from HHI, future BRP Jose Rizal (FF-150) touches the water today.

“These frigates are built based on the Incheon/FFX-I/HDF-3000-type multi-purpose frigate of the Republic of Korea Navy (RoKN), which offers increased operational performance and enhanced survivability,” Philippine Navy spokesperson Captain Jonathan Zata said as quoted by PNA.
