Hindustan Aeronautics Limited To Produce 100 Basic Trainer Aircraft

The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will produce 100 basic trainer aircraft HTT-40 in the coming months. HAL Chairman and Managing Director T Suvarna Raju, addressing the PSU’s 5th Global Vendors’ Meet held here on Tuesday, said that it is looking to produce 100 basic trainer aircraft HTT-40 soon once spin tests are completed in the coming months.

Hindustan Turboprop Trainer (HTT-40) is a tandem seat trainer aircraft being developed at HAL for the first stage training of rookie pilots. With advanced features like zero-zero ejection seats and multi-function displays, it can also be adapted as a light attack aircraft.

Its role includes basic flying training, aerobatics, instrument flying, navigation, night flying and close formation. “Given our large number of platforms with Indian Defence Forces, we remain committed to increase the scope of work to our vendors to ensure success of our programs. On rotary wing segment, our efforts are on to achieve basic certification of LUH by the middle of 2018,” he said.
