NEW DELHI: Jaish-e-Mohammed Chief Maulana Masood Azhar is setting up a squad to target prominent politicians including cabinet minister and a high-profile chief minister. Intelligence agencies are working round the input and have shared the information with all stakeholders.
The JeM and Lashkar-e-Toiba have joined hands for the task and are using a Bangaldesh-based cadre or logistics, as per the initial tip-off. According to the intelligence input, some of the men have reportedly crossed the border, Times of India reported.
The input is yet to be fully verified, sources said. Teams from a foreign intelligence agency have reportedly visited the hideout mentioned near Dhaka, Bangladesh, but did not find anything.
The JeM is planning the attack after the crackdown on Azhar and killing of his nephew Talha Rasheed by Indian security forces, the sources said. As Talha was involved in several terror attacks, his death came as a major blow to the outfit.
Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed an increase of JeM terrorists. Three days ago, three JeM terrorists were arrested from Budgam district of central Kashmir. Police recovered one SLR, pistol and grenades from them.
The terrorists were identified as Mohd Maqbol Malla and Gowher Ahmad both from Bandzoo and Azad Ahmad Lone from Lelhar, Kakapora of Pulwama district.
