Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed Moscow's readiness to provide Tajikistan with the necessary support
MOSCOW, July 5. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has discussed the situation on the Tajik-Afghan border with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon, the Kremlin stated on Monday. "
[The two presidents] discussed in detail the complicated situation on the Tajik-Afghan border, which was triggered by an escalation of armed confrontation in Afghanistan, including in the border area," the statement said.
In the phone call, Putin confirmed Moscow’s readiness to "provide Tajikistan with the necessary support - both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO)."

There is also a growing consensus among Russian "experts" that the US and its allies will be facing a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Taliban in the coming months/year .... Taliban’s intensified attacks suggest humiliating US defeat in Afghanistan — expert (TASS).
They are also expecting a massive flood of refugees should the Kabul government fall.
As to what is my prediction?
I expect Russia will be deploying a large contingent of military forces to the Tajik - Afghan border in the next few months (if not sooner). I also expect Russian military forces will be deployed to Tajikistan and Turkmenistan since they also share a border with Afghanistan.
