One of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Eurocopter AS555SN Fennec (s/n:M502-02) naval helicopter operated by No 502 Skn ‘Fennec’ has been equipped with Caledonian Airborne System Scorpio Mission System.
It is believed that the installation and integration of the helicopter was made in 2018.
Due to its small size the Fennec is equipped with two consoles, both with multiple displays. The first console on the starboardside is fitted with three displays, two of which can be multiplexed and display different video in Picture in Picture mode and so on. There are also a dedicated display that although has multiple pages is only used to display essential Mission data and parameters.
With the flexibility of the systems produced, the Scorpio Mission System can be used for Maritime Surveillance and Coastal Protection; Search & Rescue (SAR) ; maritime law enforcement; Signal Intelligence (SIGINT) ; and Anti-pollution surveillance.
Some of the Navy’s Fennec have already have WESCAM Electro Optic/Infra Red (EO/IR) camera hence having the Scorpio system on board further enhances its capabilities as multi role light naval helicopters.
