The Philippine Navy’s two ordered anti-submarine warfare (ASW) helicopters from Leonardo, formerly AgustaWestland, are now for delivery from United Kingdom to Philippines via airfreight.

“Initially earmarked for delivery in March this year, the [AW-159 Lynx] Wildcats will now be delivered tomorrow, 1 May 2019, from London-Stansted, using an (as of yet unknown) Antonov An-124,” Dutch aviation society Scramble Magazine said in an article.

“Once picked up they will fly on Friday 3 May to Manilla for the official handover,” it added.

These ASW helicopters are expected to be presented during the Philippine Navy’s 121st founding anniversary celebration this month.

The AW-159 anit-submarine helicopters will be deployed aboard the Jose Rizal-class frigates currently being constructed in South Korea by Hyundai Heavy Industries.
