Reuters: Pakistan official details car chase that freed kidnapped U.S.-Canadian family
ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - Pakistani troops shot out the tires of a vehicle carrying a kidnapped U.S.-Canadian couple and their children in a raid that led to the family’s release, a Pakistani security official said on Friday.
The operation late on Wednesday freed American Caitlan Campbell, her Canadian husband Joshua Boyle and their three children who were born in captivity following five years as hostages of the Taliban-linked Haqqani network.
Taliban sources said the family spent most of their captivity at Haqqani strongholds inside Pakistan, and not in Afghanistan as early Pakistani reports had indicated.
A senior Pakistani security source on Friday detailed how the family, who were expected to leave Pakistan on Friday, were freed following a car chase in Pakistan’s northwestern tribal region bordering Afghanistan.

WNU Editor: Found this interesting piece of information concerning the husband of this couple (from Vice Canada) ....
.... Boyle was previously married to Zaynab Khadr, the sister of Canadian man Omar Khadr, who was held in Guantanamo Bay after being shot and detained during a firefight in Afghanistan when he was 15 years old. He pleaded guilty to war crimes in exchange to return to Canada to serve out his sentence. Khadar recently received an apology from the Canadian government and a multi-million dollar settlement for the violation of his rights as he was a child when he was detained by U.S. forces.
So who is Omar Khadr .... Canadian Government Formally Apologizes To Omar Khadr And Compensates Him With $10.5 Million (July 7, 2017). More here .... The Victims Of Former Guantanamo Bay Prisoner Omar Khadr's Crimes Are Petitioning The Courts For His $10.5 Million Canadian Government Pay-off (July 5, 2017).
So we have Joshua Boyle take his then pregnant wife in 2012 to go to Afghanistan for a hike!?!?!?! They get captured and during their imprisonment have 2 more kids?!?!?! And while kept as hostages demand the release of Taliban fighters in exchange for their own. And now Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) spy-agency .... who have a long history of supporting the group that held this U.S.-Canadian family .... are boasting of their rescue of this family but are admitting that they were not able to capture any of the kidnappers during this daring rescue attempt. I know I have been accused of being a cynic at times, but am I the only one who sees something wrong with this story?
